As the airline of the Maltese Islands, we help thousands of people get here through our extensive route network in Europe and from other cities around the Mediterranean. While we do not directly fly to the US and other North American locations, we have set up a number of agreements with other carriers to ensure that it’s easy for you to get here from across the Atlantic. Here is all you need to know about flying from USA to Malta with Air Malta:

Flying to Malta: Getting to Malta from the USA is quite straightforward. Simply choose your preferred transatlantic carrier to fly you to Europe (such as Lufthansa, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Austrian Airlines, Swiss Airlines and US Airways), and then connect with an Air Malta flight to Malta from one of the airports we serve. Visit our other destinations page for more information about our routes. When flying with these carriers you will be able to easily connect with our own flights at major European airports. Length of Journey: This will vary according to various factors such as your departure point, the European destination you choose, and the connection time between flights. However, normally transatlantic flights from JFK, Newark or Washington to Europe last between 6 to 8 hours. Flights to Malta from London take about 3 hours and 20 minutes, from Frankfurt about 2 hours and 55 minutes, and from Rome 1 hour and 30 minutes. Connecting times vary at these gateway airports.

Baggage Allowances: Passengers travelling to/from Malta to/from the USA on Air Malta flights are entitled to one checked in bag not exceeding 20 kg and one piece of hand baggage not exceeding 10 kg. One laptop and one handbag may also be carried for free without incurring additional charges.
