So, you've made a reservation for a flight and received your ticket, but are having some problems checking in to your flight? Air Malta's check in assistance is here to help you. Below, you can review some of the most common issues that crop up from time to time:

Tickets bought from travel agencies:  If you made your reservation through a travel agent or another third party, you will still be able to use online check in, using your first name, last name, flight number and date only. Reservation codes that are not directly issued by Air Malta are currently not supported for online check in.

Change seat assignments after check-in: In order to change seat assignments after using the online check in service, it is necessary to contact the online Check in drop off counter at the airport.

Check in online for connecting flights:  If your trip includes a connecting flight, you will only be able to check in online if:

  1. The connecting flight is operated by an airline having a ‘thru check in’ agreement with Air Malta:  These are KLM, Air Berlin, Air One, Alitalia, British Airways, British Midland, SAS, Emirates Airlines, Hapag Lloyd, Lufthansa, Swiss International, North West and Qantas.
  2. You have a unique booking reference for the complete itinerary.

Remember that both boarding passes will need to be printed for each leg of your trip.

Codeshare: Online check in is available on all codeshare flights that are operated by Air Malta.

Children: Online check in service is not available for Unaccompanied Minors from 7 to 12 years of age (inclusive) and all passengers in need of special assistance.

Boarding Pass:  If you accidentally misplace your boarding pass, you can access online check in again in order to reprint it.  A copy of the boarding pass can also be reprinted at the online check in drop off counter at the airport. Security and ID checks will apply at all times.

Attention: If you are departing to / from a UK airport and you do not submit the API Passport data information, you will not be able to print your boarding pass.

Changing your reservation: If you want to make itinerary changes after checking in online, you will need to contact reservations. Applicable fees will depend on your ticket’s fare rules regarding changes cancellations. It will be necessary to check in again afterwards.
