Air Malta connects Malta with North Africa again, new scheduled Services to Tunis start 26th of June

Air Malta is reconnecting Malta to North Africa following the re-start of scheduled services between the islands and Tunis Carthage Airport as from Monday, 26th June 2017.

“We are very excited to announce that we will be returning to North Africa this summer with up to three direct flights a week. This is the second destination we are announcing in as many weeks. We have been following the situation in North Africa every day. Now that the situation in Tunisia has stabilised, we want to be amongst the first Airlines to connect Europe with the country again. Tunisia is a great destination and we are confident that it is going to be a great addition to our schedule as we connect Tunis not only with Malta, but also with a lot of our European destinations. The country is, ideal for weekend breaks and sun certain holidays,’’ said Paul Sies, Air Malta’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Air Malta’s flights will increase flight connectivity between Tunisia and the European cities of Vienna, London, Rome, Amsterdam, Prague, Munich, Brussels, Marseille, Catania, Milan and Zurich with short connecting time through Malta International Airport. Air Malta will also provide full cargo services on this route, thus facilitating the movement of goods between the two countries and opening a new cargo gateway to/from Tunisia and beyond.

Tunis is the capital and largest city of Tunisia. Built on a hill slope this hybrid and provincial city offers travellers a glimpse of different empires and civilisations. Travellers can wander through the narrow streets and lanes of the historic city of Medina, a UNESCO Heritage site since 1979. Medina hosts an incredible number of spectacular monuments and land marks mainly palaces, mosques and museums. On the eastern side of the lake of Tunis, lays the ancient magnificent Phoenician city of Carthage. Visiting this extraordinary city leads to a unique distinctive experience that will definitely take you back in time. Visitors can explore various Phoenician ruins and admire impressive roman remains structures ranging from villas and baths. This imposing city is also home to the Presidential Palace. The picturesque cliff top village of Sidi Bou Said, full of quaint cobbled streets is surely worth a visit. It is lined with white washed buildings which are adorned with interesting iron works, blue decorated doors and windows. Tunis offers more than just historic sites and landmarks, the fishing village of Hammamet is synonymous with sandy beaches, beautiful resorts and a vibrant nightlife.

Other popular attractions include Sousse, Monastir, Port El Kantaoui, the Amphitheatre of El Jem and others. While visiting Tunisia and the surrounding areas travellers can indulge themselves in the inviting authentic local cuisine and sweet delights that this North African country can offer.

Malta on the other hand has a lot to offer to Tunisians from balmy beaches and trendy nightclubs, to magnificent ancient monuments and a stunning legacy of centuries’ old art and culture.
