For an off-the-beaten-track experience, get ready to head southwest of Valletta. The old quarter in the town of Qormi is well-known for its peaceful and quiet atmosphere. Here, you can wander around the narrow streets and pay a visit to the beautifully-decorated Saint George Parish Church.

If you enjoy traditional food, here you can also tantalise your taste buds with what is known by the locals as the best bread on the island. As you’re likely to encounter a bakery in every corner of Qormi, the streets are normally infused with the appetizing smell of fresh bread. What’s more, during the Knights’ rule, Qormi was referred to as Casal Fornaro (meaning The Bakers’ Town) and this 20th of October, the town will actually be holding its annual “Lejl f’Casal Fornaro” festival!

2. Marsaskala
