Raining in Malta? Here's What You Can Do!

10 February 2018

Whilst Malta is generally a beautiful, sun drenched island, even in the winter months, it does from time to time experience a little rain. It enjoys over 300 days of sunshine during an average year, but when the heavens do occasionally open, it really makes up for lost time. That said, if you are planning on booking flights to Malta this spring, and are worried what to do if it happens to be raining in Malta during your visit, then luckily for you, there is lots to do. These are some of the best picks!

Visit the Aquarium

Located in Bugibba in the north of Malta, the National Aquarium is a must see, particularly on a rainy day. Featuring over 26 tanks and 175 different species of fish, it has plenty to see and do for all of the family. Spread over 20,000 square metres it includes ample parking, a public garden, facilities for dive schools, and a beach club.

Check out fish and sea creatures from the Indian Ocean, and say hello to the sharks that inhabit the 12-metre main tank. This tank is complete with a water tunnel which allows visitors to walk through and experience a whole new perspective on these majestic creatures. Visit the touch pools, peruse the exhibition space, and then refresh yourself with a bite to eat and drink in the large selection of eateries that Bugibba has to offer.
