The Magic Island Festival

7 August 2014

August is the peak of summer in Malta. The temperature soars and it seems that every day there is something to look forward to. Held over four days, the Magic Island Festival kicks off in Malta on Thursday 21st August and lasts until Sunday 24th. Held in 4 stunning locations this unique event is dedicated to the fusion of vintage and modern culture.

The Magic Island Festival will feature over 50 different artists, musicians, DJ's actors and performers from 7 different countries. Dip into the vintage market, take a dance class, sample some incredible food, watch stunning burlesque performers or dance the night away to the sound of electro-swing, Balkan beats and other future-retro musical styles, all situated under the stars, the trees or on the sea. Welcome to The Magic Island Festival!

Official launch event for the Magic Island Festival is at the rooftop bar of The Palace Hotel in Sliema with breath taking 360 degree views of the Island.  The event will feature a photography exhibition by French artist Liso Cassano. Jazzy lounge music and quality wines will provide the perfect setting to a classy evening. It all begins at 20:00 on Thursday 21st August.

On Friday evening, starting at 20:00, discover the stunning yet little-known Sa Maison Gardens, tucked away between the magnificent fortified walls of Valletta/Floriana, offering breath taking sea views and historical features.  This mysterious ancient garden will be transformed into a hive of artistic and musical activity. The main highlights include a vintage market, swing dancing classes, art installations, live bands playing gypsy jazz, manouche, jive, swing and rock ‘n roll, and DJs playing a fusion of retro and modern musical styles, including vintage remixes, balkan beats, electro-swing and future funk.
