Malta's Festas Told Through Pictures

The Maltese Islands are known for the numerous amounts of religious festivities and cultural events which take place throughout the year.

Check out these beautiful pictures of traditional Maltese ‘festas’, symbolizing Malta’s strong heritage and culture

The beautifully lit up Mosta dome on the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady in August. This is referred to by locals as ‘Santa Marija Festa’.

During the Feast of the Risen Christ, it is tradition that locals run through the village with the Statue of the Resurrected Jesus Christ on their backs, whilst the rest of the feast goers cheer them on. This tradition takes place in various towns, although this picture was taken in Birgu.

Beautiful shots taken in February, during the Feast of Saint Paul. Locals gather in the streets of Valletta to commemorate the shipwreck of the Apostle St. Paul on the Maltese Islands.
