It's Christmas pantomime season again!

7 November 2018

Christmas is just around the corner and whilst the temperatures are slowly getting colder in Malta, it is right about time to start planning what to do over the festive period. If you’ll be spending your Christmas holidays in Malta this year, you should make time to attend a pantomime to ensure you are well and truly in the Christmas spirit. Discover what’s on this year!

The pantomime tradition in Malta

The annual pantomime is a Christmas highlight in Malta where both children and adults enjoy great shows that take place at Manoel Theatre or MFCC. Every year pantomimes tell classic stories that everyone is familiar with, combining the best scripts and costume designs with a contemporary and humorous twist.  Each pantomime season, local people and visitors from all over the world book to fulfill their Christmas holidays’ expectations.

MADC is Malta’s oldest theatre company that has been bringing talented performers together for fantastic classical productions for the last 117 years.

This year they’ll be entertaining us with a childhood favourite, Jack and the Beanstalk, taking us on a journey as Jack plucks up his courage to go from zero to hero. Directed by Malcolm Galea, you’re in for a fun-packed adventure starting from 23rd of December until the 5th of January 2019 at the MFCC, Ta’Qali.

Whilst the show features a great cast such as Michael Mangion as the hilarious Dame, it will also offer a stunning set and authentic costumes created by Ray Farrugia and Izzy Warrington respectively.  So, what are you waiting for? Book your tickets now to avoid disappointment as to spill the beans, tickets may sell out quickly for this one!

Showing at the Manoel Theatre from 23rd December until 6th January and directed by Chris Gatt, the panto will leave the audience on edge as they witness Prince Charming with the help of his entourage, Nanna Kola and Muddles, rid the land of the evil fairy Maleficent.

Secure your tickets now and be sure not to miss out panto veteran Edward Mercieca as the Dame and Tezara Camilleri as Maleficent, along with all the other actors promising to keep you laughing out loud for the full three hours.

Combine these pantomimes with other Christmas traditions in Malta such as life-size nativity cribs, artisan markets and all the typical festive delicacies and you will be in for a Christmas like no other.
