Exciting Alternatives to St Julian’s for Going out in Malta

3 March 2018

When it comes to going out and wanting to let your hair down, Malta has a wonderfully eclectic nightlife. Whilst one might think that most of the action is centred around St Julian’s and Sliema, in actual fact there are a whole host of fun places to spend the evenings eating, drinking and dancing- you just have to know where to go!

So, if you are planning on booking your holidays in Malta this year, take a note of these places where you can really let loose and have some fun.

Marsaskala

Marsaskala has a few hidden gems that are worth making the journey down south for. If you like reggae and cocktails you are in luck as there are several venues that can cater to your taste, as well as an Irish bar, a champagne lounge, and of course, several beach-side lido’s that offer chilled out vibes until the early hours of the morning. If you want delicious fresh food, you are in luck in Marsaskala as well as it has some of the nicest restaurants on the island.

Bugibba

If you head up to the north of the island, not only is the scenery drastically different, but you can find a lot of interesting things to see and do. Once you have done the sightseeing, the chances are that you will need a beverage to refresh yourself and the area of Bugibba, Qawra and St Paul’s Bay do not disappoint. With a truly enormous range of bars, bistros, and cafes to choose from there is a little something for everyone. Check out the Elvis tribute bar, glam it up in the casino, or just sit and watch the waves crash on the shore as you sip a cocktail at sunset- whatever you fancy, the choice is yours.

Victoria

The capital of Gozo has some great bars to go out in, if you’re looking to go to Gozo you should check it out. There are also a couple of nightclubs in Gozo that put on special events and parties throughout the year and are well worth the ferry ride across the channel. Gozo is a beautiful place - smaller and quieter than its sister island of Malta, but nonetheless, it still has some super options when it comes to enjoying yourself!

Valletta

Host to the European Capital of Culture 2018, there will be no shortage of things to see and do this year in Valletta. When it comes to going out, you can head down to the waterfront which has nice bars and restaurants on offer, or you can explore Strait Street and some of the back streets of the capital and stumble across some truly hidden gems. There are whiskey bars, gin bars, cocktail bars, wine bars, and more, all just waiting for you to discover them.

If partying is your thing, then Malta will not disappoint, whichever time of year you choose to visit.
