St.Julians, the entertainment mecca of Malta
Malta’s own entertainment mecca, St Julians is brimming with fine-dining and nightclubs pulling troves of tourists throughout the year.
Known as the entertainment mecca of Malta
and situated along the coast, St Julian’s
is renowned amongst both locals and foreigners. With ample hotels, classy restaurants and trendy nightclubs
in an area known as Paceville
, the town is one of the most popular with tourists and is a very well-sought after locality, especially in the weekends.
Having started off as a quaint fishing village, St Julian’s was barely inhabited up to two to three hundred years ago. Fast-forward to the present and St Julian’s has captured the cultural and entertainment capital title from Valletta. Young people from all over the island and the world gather at this prolific town in the weekends for its nightclubs, cinemas and pubs which are within walking distance of each other.
The area was utilised as hunting grounds for the Knights who named the area for the patron saint of hunters Raffaele Spinola. This prominent knight built his villa overlooking the small bay which still bears his name to date. Spinola Bay today is bustling with more than its fair share of restaurants, cafes and bars.
With the presence of several hotels and catering and entertainment establishments, St Julian’s also boasts a beach which attracts beach-lovers from all over Malta. Since St Julian’s is within walking distance of the neighbouring town of Sliema and its shopping malls, and only a short bus ride to and from Valletta, it makes it a rather appealing spot since it’s central and close to nearby attractions.
Open-air dining and romantic strolls on the beach are common sights as the bay offers attractive scenery during the hot summer months.
