Camping in Malta couldn’t be easier! With several scenic locations and favourable climatic conditions, campers are spoilt for choice.

It’s possible to organize camping activities all year round and with some preparation the event can be turned into a family-friendly gathering.

A great spot for camping is in Ghajn Tuffieha. Just beside this beautiful bay is a campsite run by the Scout Association of Malta which covers around 16 acres of land. The site is close to a bus-stop making it easily accessible to travellers who opt to use public transport rather than hire their own car. The venue provides sanitary facilities and is served with water and electricity. Tents are setup and ready to use making your camping experience easy to enjoy. You can access the campsite map and place an online booking by clicking here.

Alternatively you may want to consider the tranquil campsite located in the zone known as L’Ahrax within Daħlet ix-Xmajjar. This area is excellent for several walks  in the vicinity of Selmun and Mellieha and thus the site will serve as an excellent springboard for your adventures. This camping site offers several camping facilities including fully furnished tents or motor homes as well as any camping equipment you may require. Both in Malta as well as in Gozo camping in the wild is also possible however special permits must be obtained from the Local Councils who govern the use of such open spaces. This is particularly important for Gozo which has no officially designated camping zone yet which offers unparalleled opportunities for camping.

In general, camping sites are safe and the official camping-locations discussed above offer facilities to store larger objects such as bicycles or luggage. Combining cycling and camping is indeed a common occurrence as most camping sites are at the foot of cycling routes .
