Horse Riding in Malta
Enjoy Malta’s countryside and beaches from a new perspective
There’s a bright golden haze on the meadow, and there’s no better way to see a beautiful morning in Malta than on horseback! To the untrained eye can come off as a very urbanised place, however the less-seen side of Malta has sprawling fields and stretches of land that have remained untouched by man. Such places can’t always be reached by car or on foot but you’re sure to offer your family a unique sightseeing experience if you take them horse riding.
There are a number of horse riding schools in Malta, however the stables found in Bidnjia and Golden Bay offer breathtaking views and cater especially for young riders. Although both stables are located in the northern parts of the island, each offer different views. While Bidnija is in the countryside, the stables at Golden Bay give riders a view of the coast from the hills that look over the bay.
Whether you and your family are novices or seasoned riders, sessions may be booked as free riding, a tour, or a lesson, all of which include accompaniment with a trained instructor. Rides usually last between 30 minutes to an hour at affordable rates, which are at a reduced price for kids.
If you would like to do a good deed while on holiday, the Funny Farm in Bidnija offers horse riding lessons and rides out for charity. The Funny Farm provides shelter for abandoned, neglected or ill-treated equines. The Funny farm also organises a children’s day every Saturday in order to raise money for the rescued horses. You can find the latest updates about the Funny Farm Facebook page.
