This romantic city holds a fortune of history and culture evident in its stunning churches and grandiose architecture. The wealth of art and magnificent open parks also add to its beauty.

Hungary’s capital Budapest straddles the beautiful Danube River and is spread over an area of 525km, making it one of the largest cities in Europe.

This romantic city is choc-full of attractions ranging from lush, open parks, to magnificent churches and museums, to the city’s parliament, where the crown jewels are kept. The city also has a great selection of spas, thanks to the abundance of thermal springs.

The impressively expansive Heroes’ Square features one of Budapest’s most easily recognisable landmarks, the Millennium Memorial featuring statues of Hungary’s founders.  The square is flanked by the Museum of Fine Arts on the left and Palace of Art on the right.

The former features a wide range of European art boasting over 100,000 works, while the latter features regular exhibitions of Hungarian and international artists.

St Stephen’s Basilica is also a must on any itinerary. This is Budapest’s largest church and features a 96m high dome. Inside the church is Hungary’s most sacred (and macabre) relic, the right hand of St. Stephen, amongst other priceless works of art.

Budapest’s café scene is what you’d expect from this noble European city, and more. The city boasts well-preserved old cafés brimming with character, perfect for a relaxing coffee after a long day pounding the pavement.

For a little more excitement, Budapest’s nightlife never stops. The city’s dance clubs, jazz bars, and concert venues are in use 7 days a week, often opening until the wee hours of the morning.
