For the first time in Malta, Santa’s magical world is unveiled!

If you have been following this blog, you will already know by now there are a plethora of fabulous events to keep you and your little ones busy over the festive period within the Maltese Islands. One exciting new venture this year is Fairyland, allow us to tell you all you need to know about this enchanting wonderland. If you happen to be on your holidays in Malta don’t miss Fairyland!

Fairyland is an original adaptation of Santa’s story, promising to give the most exciting day for the whole family. The area surrounding Valletta’s main entrance and Triton fountain has been transformed into an amusement wonderland, with Santa and his elves plus plenty of entertainment.

Malta’s biggest ice rink!

Never before on the islands has a Christmas ice rink of such epic proportions been witnessed. Be the first to skate the afternoon away at the 900 square meter Penguin Ice rink.

Children can also hop on to Santa’s magical carousel, meet Father Christmas in his beautiful grotto and take in the stunning views of Valletta and Floriana from the top of a 32-metre-high Big Wheel.

The massive 32 meter high illuminated Ferris wheel offers a rare opportunity of a bird’s eye view over Valletta.

How to get there

Fairyland is located in Valletta and neighbouring Floriana. The majority of its spectacular attractions area spread around the Triton Fountain and its vicinity. You’ll be glad to note; Fairyland is located precisely in the drop-off zone of all centre Public Transport leading to Valletta. For all those travelling by car, several Car Parks are available around the area.

When is it open?

Fairyland Malta runs from Thursday 12 December until Sunday 5 January.

Opening hours: Mondays to Thursdays from 10 am to 10 pm.

Fridays to Saturdays from 10 am to 11.30 pm, and Sundays from 10 am to 10 pm.

Food glorious food!

There will also be plenty of food stands situated around Fairyland. All of the many bars, cafes, restaurants and shops accept cash, and some accept cards. Food and drink prices vary depending on whether it’s a table service indoor restaurant or take-away chalet, but the organisers state they have aimed to provide for all tastes and budgets. The sprawling Christmas markets feature over 20 stalls from handmade crafts to luxury gifts and culinary delights for all your Christmas shopping and souvenir needs!

Do I need tickets?

Fairyland is free to enter, and you do not need an entry ticket. You only pay for the attractions you wish to visit. Skate hire is included within the ticket price, and it’s free to sit and watch your friends and loved ones in the spectator area!
