Head on down to Malta’s capital city on the 3rd June for the Valletta Film Festival. Discover more here!

Make your way to the soon-to-be European Capital of Culture on the 3rd to the 11th June and attend the second edition of the Valletta Film Festival. The most-awaited event, organised by the Film Grain Foundation brings together both local and international productions from all over the world.

Due to its prominent location in the Mediterranean Sea, Malta is the optimal meeting point for international film-makers to come together and display their work. This year the film-productions will be exhibited in the majestic city of Valletta, in 5 different locations; Fort St.Elmo, Palace Square, Embassy Cinemas, Pjazza Teatru Rjal, and St. James Cavalier.

The second edition of this festival promises to be even better than last year’s successful event which saw over 5000 tickets sold.

This festival does not solely target film enthusiasts. Other events will be held throughout this festival such as talks, workshops, exhibitions, and also debates regarding a vast range of subjects and topics. If you’re interested in any of the events that will be held, be sure to grab a couple of friends and family and head down over to participate.

This year, the festival will also be hosting a new section for teens! This section will be a competitive one which will include around 7 screenings targeting a young audience, primarily those aged between 13 and 17 . The main objective of this initiative is to motivate the younger generation to gain interest in film making. Teens are encouraged to vote their favorite film which will then be awarded the prestigious Triton’s Teen Choice Award during the closing ceremony.

Interested in helping out at the festival? Like many other events, this Valletta Film Festival relies greatly on volunteers. The organizers are searching for volunteers who are determined to help out one month before the festival. Click here  to apply.
