Security Measures on Departing Flights at Malta International Airport

Following the uncovering of the alleged terrorism plot in the UK last August, the Office of the Manager Airport Security (OMAS - Aviation Security Department - MJHA) issued additional security measures which are to be implemented at the Malta International Airport for departing flights. These measures are in harmony with all EU countries and came into effect in early November 2006.

UK Aviation Security Measures

On Thursday 21st September 2006, the Department for Transport announced changes to the UK's aviation security measures, notably increases to the size of cabin baggage that can be taken on board an aircraft. The changes came into effect on Friday 22nd September 2006.

All passengers starting their journey at a UK airport and also transferring from international flights at a UK airport are required to be aware of these measures.
