Passengers with reduced mobility as defined by the AEA (Association of European Airlines) are understood to be those persons either whose mobility is reduced due to any physical disability (sensory or locomotory), or who have an intellectual impairment, age impairment, or any other cause of disability when using transport, and whose situation needs special attention and the adaptation to that person’s needs of services made available to all passengers.
To improve the accessibility of air travel to passengers with reduced mobility, Air Malta has set a number of guidelines to ensure that these special needs are understood and provided accordingly.
Depending on an individual’s condition, it may be necessary for some passengers with reduced mobility to prepare a Medical Information Form (MEDIF) and submit it in advance of their travel arrangements for due review and approval by Air Malta.
Passengers with any of the following conditions are kindly requested to prepare a Medical Information Form (MEDIF):
- Passengers who need a stretcher or incubator on board the aircraft
- Passengers whose medical condition requires an oxygen supply on board the aircraft
- Passengers who require an extra seat to accommodate leg elevation
- Passengers with a serious illness or injury
- Passengers who cannot take care of themselves on the ground or during the flight
- Expectant mothers at or over the 36th week of pregnancy
- Passengers who require the carriage and use of medical equipment on board the aircraft
- Passengers whose fitness for air travel is dubious
