When do I have to be at the airport for check in?
If you’re checking in at the airport, it’s crucial to plan ahead and get to the departure terminal ahead of time. A rule of thumb is to get there about one to two hours before scheduled flight departure. This gives you enough time for checking in, going through security checks and boarding the plane.
Here are some more specific guidelines according to your airport of departure to help you learn by when you are allowed to check in at the airport before a flight departs:
Flights from London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Manchester
- Passengers checking in with baggage drop - 45 minutes prior scheduled time of departure
- Passengers checking in with hand luggage only - 30 minutes prior scheduled time of departure
Flights from Rome Fiumicino
45 minutes prior scheduled time of departure
Flights from Tel Aviv
60 minutes prior scheduled time of departure
Flights from Malta to Tripoli:
