Huge Success For The Air Malta Love Plane
The Air Malta 'Love Plane' organised yesterday was sold-out with couples looking for a special and unique way to celebrate Valentine's Day.
The round trip flight appropriately given the flight number of KM0214 to match this special day, took off just after 08:00 pm and landed back in Malta at 10:00 pm. The 'Love Plane' took the couples over the Sicilian coastline, from Mount Etna up to Reggio Calabria while Air Malta's Valentine's guests enjoyed a special romantic dinner in a Club configuration at an altitude of 14,000 feet.
Air Malta's guests were pampered with full VIP treatment from a specially decorated red-carpet check-in to a champagne and canapés reception at the La Valette Lounge, courtesy of Malta International Airport.
Upon boarding, couples were greeted by the airline's passionate crew members with flowers and champagne followed by a special dinner. Live romantic music onboard by saxaphone player Walter set the perfect atmosphere, while artist Peter Grech from Peter & Papps surprised the couples with a live romantic song. Air Malta was thus one of a handlful of airlines who have ever organised live entertainment onboard a flight.
Commenting on her experience upon landing 48-year old Simone Fenech said, "It was an impeccable experience - simply magical! After 27 years of marriage we had our first flying experience and we left the aircraft with tears in our eyes. We will treasure this experiencee for all our lives". Passenger Paul Hili also commented positively, "It was lovely. We enjoyed it throughout. Congratulations to Air Malta on this original and well organised event and I hope that this encourages the airline to organise similar experiences in the future".
To further enhance this once-in-a-lifetime flight, all the couples received a complimentary 'Love Bag' full of surprises including a beautiful pearl pendant carefully selected by Vascas and heart-shaped chocolate box offered by Nuance Group.
Philip Saunders, Air Malta's Chief Officer Commercial commented, "This was truly a one-in-a-lifetime experiencee for our guests. All our teams - on the ground and in the air - gave their very best to make this a special occasion. Now we'll really have to consider whether to make this an annual event so that Air Malta can carry on spreading Love".
Air Malta would like to thank Malta International Airport, Vascas, Duty Free Store by Nuance, Teleflor International, La Valette Club, SkyGourmet, Camilleri Wines, Nescafe and Baci Perugina for their support and collaboration in organising the 'Love Plane'.
