Air Malta contributed to this year’s edition of Malta Design Week through an installation that tells the story of a national airline reconnecting with its Maltese roots.

The installation showcased Air Malta’s rebranding as a contemporary reimagining of Maltese identity, fitting seamlessly into the fabric of Malta Design Week.

“When reimagining the Air Malta brand, we blended the old with the new, with a desire to create a genuine renaissance. We wanted to capture the kernel of Maltese identity, with a contemporary touch that blends effortlessly with Malta’s established cultural identity,” said Chief Commercial Officer, Philip Saunders.

The flowing fusion graphics based on local patterns and the simplicity of the Tberfil calligraphy demonstrated an element of experimentation and innovation that has come to be synonymous with Malta Design Week’s celebration of creativity.

The event, together with the participation of Air Malta and many creative minds with a story to tell, encapsulated reflections upon various design, marketing and arts fields, with a shared commitment to establish MDW at the forefront of Maltese creativity and innovation.

Malta Design Week is a biennial event, which this year took place between 17th and 25th May at the newly-restored Fort St. Elmo.
