Maltese tenor drives around the island in a red vintage sportscar
and opens up about his childhood memories in latest Air Malta video.

“You cannot be interested in the history of human civilisation and not come to Malta.”

Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja may have travelled the world but still believes Malta is one of the most “interesting, beautiful, warm, spiritual, historic” places in the world.

He says this in Air Malta’s latest video titled “Joseph Calleja: There’s no place like Malta” where he opens up about his love for Malta while buzzing around the island in a red vintage sports car.

Mr Calleja, who is Air Malta’s Brand Ambassador, recalls memories from his childhood as he revels in Malta’s unrivalled beauty.

“You cannot be interested in the history of human civilisation and not come to Malta,” he says as he reminisces about the smell of fresh Maltese bread emanating from the bakeries in Qormi or the scent of fireworks and incense during the traditional festi.

The world-famous opera singer also talks about the feeling of being home as soon as he spots the Maltese cross on an Air Malta plane when arriving at a foreign airport.

Joseph Calleja international reputation as the Maltese Tenor has made him undoubtedly the best international ambassador the islands can offer. His identity fits perfectly with the Air Malta’s brand vision and efforts to support the promotion of the Maltese islands overseas.

The two-minute video, shot entirely in February, was shared on Air Malta’s YouTube, Facebook and Twitter channels and is the latest in a series of viral adverts promoting the Air Malta as the Airline of the Maltese islands.

Mr. Calleja has already featured in a previous Air Malta video clip where he sang O Sole Mio on a plane to unsuspecting passengers.

“We are extremely privileged to have such a passionate and eloquent brand ambassador who has so much love for Malta and its favourite airline,” said Chief Commercial Officer Philip Saunders.
