Q - Does Air Malta allow smoking on board its flights?

A - No. We operate a No Smoking policy throughout our route network.

Q - Can you provide in-flight oxygen for medical needs?

A - Yes, we can. However, if you are suffering from a particular medical condition, you may need to be certified as fit to fly by our medical doctor. Further information can be obtained from the Medical Help Desk on Tel : +356 22999296, or email.

Q - Do you have a procedure which allows the selection of seat numbers prior to flight time ? Is it possible to do so online?

A - Particular seats can be requested at the time of booking when the passenger is travelling on Flexiplus and Club Class fares. For Flexiplus Fares, seat selection has to be completed at time of flight reservations and is subject to availability. Seat requests on Special Offers and Flexi Fares are not permissible. Seat requests cannot be guaranteed as factors at departure may determine the need for given seats to be allocated to other passengers. On charter flights, seats may be pre-allocated ( for an additional cost ) through your travel agent. Seats by the emergency exit can only be allocated at check-in as we need to verify that the passenger is fit to be seated there in accordance with safety and operational requirements and procedures.

Seats on our flights can be booked in the following ways :

  • by phone from our International Call Centre
  • from any Air Malta Sales Office
  • from a travel agent of your choice.

Click here to view our worldwide offices and representatives.

Q - How can I acquire some more leg-room?

A - Leg-room seats are situated by the Emergency Exits. For this reason, check-in staff must first ascertain that you are fit to be seated by this Exit. Requirements stipulate that the passenger :

  • must be over 16 years of age but not elderly
  • is not suffering from a medical condition
  • does not require special attention whilst on board
  • is able to fasten his own seat belt without requiring an extension

Q - Does Air Malta allow the use of laptop computers and electronic equipment during the flight?

A - Laptop computers and other electronic equipment can be used only during the cruising phase of a flight and then only after consulting with the Cabin Crew.

Q - Can I use my mobile telephone during the flight?

A - No. Use of a mobile telephone is not permitted during all phases of the flight.

Q - Does Air Malta provide internet/wifi services on board its flights?

A - Not at this point in time. However, we have designed an In-flight Programme of audiovisual and print entertainment systems in order to provide a more enjoyable and relaxing experience when travelling with us.

Q - Does Air Malta provide newspapers on board its flights?

A - Yes we do. Both Economy Class and Club Class passengers are provided with free newspapers.

Q - Does Air Malta provide In-flight Entertainment during the flight?

A - Yes we do. We have teamed up with Blue Media Marketing to offer an enhanced level of in-flight service. Passengers can watch a number of feature films on the London Heathrow/Gatwick, Manchester, Brussels and Frankfurt routes. On other flights we offer light or humorous shows and thought-provoking documentaries on a broad range of topics. Passengers are also given a complimentary copy of Sky Life magazine and provided with newspapers. Click here for more details about our in-flight entertainment.

Q - Does Air Malta provide special meals?

A - Yes, we do offer a selection of special meals to order, including :
  • Medical Meals
  • Religious Meals
  • Vegetarian Diets
  • Child Meals
  • Other requests
You can request a special meal for all our scheduled flights, with the exception of flights falling within Zone ‘A’ [i], which are under 1 hr 20 mins duration ( such as Catania, Palermo and Tunis ).

The request must be made at the time of booking and cannot be guaranteed if requested later on.

Q - Is there an additional payment for a special meal?

A - No. We are pleased to accept your request as part of our service to you.

Q - I have a nut allergy. Are pea/nuts used in the in-flight meals on board an Air Malta flight?

A - We do sometimes use peanuts/nuts in our menus, in either a main course or a dessert. A passenger with a nut allergy should pre-order a ‘Nut-Free meal.’ It is extremely important to specify this at the time of booking.

Q - Do passengers with Diabetes need to make any special arrangements to travel on Air Malta flights?

A - Yes, you should order a Diabetic meal from us at the time of booking. Also, any necessary medication should be carried with you in your hand baggage.

Q - I requested a special meal but did not receive one when the meal was served.

A - We can only apologise if that should be the case. However, we will need to clarify the time and place when the request was made. Our flight services also include the offer of a Special Meal Request Form, which is completed by the Flight Purser to accommodate a passenger who did not receive his special meal.  It is very much recommended that a request for a special meal is reconfirmed 24 hours prior to your departure.
