The Malta International Air Show
I have been up for an hour or so, the sun is peeking through my blinds, my coffee is fresh and piping hot and my wife is still snoozing in bed… again. The weekend is approaching and I decided to search for some upcoming events in Malta. I am glad I did.
Held every year in September at the Malta International Airport, the Malta International Air Show, is, without shadow of a doubt, one of the largest outdoor events in Malta and has earned a reputation and following as a top outdoor family event. This year the date is set for the 28th-29th September.
The Malta International Air Show has been running for over 19 years, improving year on year in both numbers and quality. Over the past 19 years the Malta International Air Show has offered the Maltese public a once in a lifetime opportunity to see planes first hand such as the Israeli F-15s and F-16s, Italian F-104s and Do-228, US Navy F-18s, Tornados, B-52, Spitfire and Hurricane plus most of the European national display teams including the Red Arrows, Patrouille de France, Frecce Tricolori and many more gracing the Maltese skies.
It takes over 200 volunteers, 600 packed meals and more than two kilometers of fencing and barriers to set up and run the Malta International Air Show every year. Apparently, the Air Show is the most photographed event in Malta, which honestly, is not hard to believe. I will be taking my camera!
As we speak, my diary is in front of me, prepaid tickets are available from all McDonald’s restaurants in Malta & Gozo and Avantech in San Gwann from the 16th September at €10 each for adults. On-the-day entry will cost €12 for adults but children under the age of 14 get in for free.
