The Voices Charity Event
A popular biannual event, the concert brings together the best voices on the islands to create unique performances that are enjoyed by everyone.
A staple event in the Maltese Islands’ calendar is the Voices charity event which sees spectacular vocal interpretations of renowned names in the local music industry as well as others less known. From classical to pop and rock tunes, Voices is a non-profit organisation that aims to raise money for charitable and worthy causes. Voices has contributed over one million Euros in the past to various local and international charities such as the Hospice Movement, Eden Foundation, Caritas, YMCA, Dar tal-Providenza, UNICEH and Amnesty International amongst many others.
Bringing together young people in a creative environment is the main driving force behind Voices. Over the years, the choir went from 75 singers in 1991 to over 200 choir singers with the audience reaching over 13,000 people at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in the past.
Each series of concerts focuses on a particular theme. In 2006, the concert focused on the theme of “global family” while in 2000, 2002 and 2004, the concerts focused on voluntary organisations. The concerts in 1998 focused on the refugee problem with funds raised going to local and international charities working for the refugee cause.
