Violin and Friends International

Violin and Friends International

Professors and artists from Europe, Asia and the USA, came together to perform and study with talented and motivated students.

A variety of internationally acclaimed musicians in the fields of classical, baroque, folk, jazz and new music came together to participate at the International Music Festival, master classes and the Malta International Music Competition at an event called Violin and Friends International held between March 23rd and April 6th.

Professors and artists from Europe, Asia and the USA, came together to take part in this festival, to perform and study with equally as talented and motivated students. The objectives were to establish a professional platform as an educational programme and competition for students. The world’s most talented students carried out two weeks of intensive performance and study in Malta.

Throughout the years, the festival, the Malta International Music Master Classes as well as the Malta International Music Competition has brought over participants from some 25 countries. The event furthermore showcases Malta’s most beautiful venues with many past performances, master classes and courses held in some of Malta’s most awe-inspiring locations including the Manoel Theatre, St.Paul’s Anglican Pro-Cathedral and St Augustine parish church among others.

The Malta International Music Competition last took place between April 2 and 6 which saw a competition of emerging pianists, violinists and chamber music ensembles being encouraged to pursue a musical career whilst performing in front of an audience. The jury was composed of renowned music professors and artists from all over the world. The finals took place at the mesmerising Palazzo de La Salle, in Valetta on April 6.

From next year onwards, the VFIMF International Music Festival, Malta International Music Master Classes and the Malta International Music Competition will be taking place annually from the 17th to the 31st of July.
