Although very small, Malta’s sister island, ; Gozo, is teaming with sporting activities. ​

Thanks to its temperate climate , sports facilities and varied geographical landscape, Gozo offers a haven for sport and adventure lovers. From the depths of the sea to the hilly rough terrain, the island has something to offer anyone wishing to keep active on their holiday. 

With underwater treasures including caves, diving wrecks and archways, diving  is an increasingly popular sport in Gozo. Gozo’s underwater world does not only offer a colourful seabed and vivid sea life but is also home to many historic wrecks, waiting for divers to explore. Diving instructing  and excursions are offered by many schools all over the island.

If you’re not a fan of swimming to the depths of the sea but wish to experience Gozo’s waters, kayaks and canoes of all sizes are available for rent from various outlets. This sport is a great way to exercise your arms whilst enjoying the sea in a quiet and peaceful environment. 

Gozo’s pleasant climate makes the island an ideal place for walking and hiking. The island offers an interesting landscape ranging from off-road tracks to smooth flat roads suitable for different types of sport.
Biking has also become very popular in Gozo as the island offers a large number of cycling routes including the new SIBIT project ,  which takes you on different routes to explore Gozo’s unspoilt countryside, pretty alleyways and rural villages. 

If you’re up for a challenging game of badminton or tennis then head to Gozo’s recently refurbished sports complex in Rabat. The large hall which seats 1750 people and invites both members and non members to practice over 20 types of sports including basketball, volleyball, handball, and even karate. The complex houses a squash court, gym, climbing facilities and outdoor tennis courts.
