Its renowned Eiffel tower, famous Louvre museum, charming streets and flower markets will make you fall in love with this enchanting city.
Paris is a city that needs little introduction. Even those that have never walked its tree-lined boulevards with impeccable façades have somehow ‘visited’ this world famous city.
Either in our favourite movies or books, or from hearing friends gush after a recent trip to the City of Love, we’ve all been to Paris. But nothing can really replace the actual experience of being in Paris – it’s an incomparable onslaught on the senses.
Visit the city’s flower markets and witness an explosion of colours. Walk along a market street and smell the pungent cheeses, fragrant roasting chestnuts, and to-die-for baked goods. Paris’ greatest trick is its ability to make us fall in love with her.
A spring-time walk along the Seine, a stroll through Tuileries Garden, or in front of the Mona Lisa, Paris will enchant you, leaving you love-struck and longing to return.
Beyond all this, Paris offers a range of attractions as would befit a world-class city. The most famous of all is the Eiffel Tower
– a solid steel structure built for the 1889 World Fair.
While many now view this monument as cliché, it still holds immense pulling power, with over 7 million visitors a year ascending to its breath-taking views.
Museums in Paris are the envy of other cities the world over – from the famous Louvre
with its immense grounds (you’d need several days to cover the entire museum), to the slightly lesser known but more easily navigated Musée d'Orsay
, famous for its sculpture and impressionist masterpieces, every interest is catered for. There’s even a sewer museum: Musée des Égouts
for those interested in that sort of thing.
The Seine is central to life in Paris – it divides the city into the left and right banks. While these two divisions are no longer as distinct as they once were, the Left Bank is still more of an artistic bohemia, while the right bank tends to be a little more formal. However, most of the city’s major attractions are on the Right Bank.
