Q - What is the earliest available check-in time prior to departure on an Air Malta flight?

A - Check-in for all our flights opens 2 hours prior to the departure time.


Q - When does Air Malta close its check-in for a flight?

A – Generally check-in closes between 30 minutes to 45 minutes before the flight estimated departure.  Check -in and boarding vary by airport, so it is important to find out what check-in closure times at your airport of departure are in order to arrive there in reasonable time for your check-in, airport security checks and boarding.

If you fail to complete check-in and and/or to arrive at the boarding gate in due time, you will miss your flight. Air Malta is not liable for any loss or expenses incurred by your late arrival.


Q - Does Air Malta provide an Unaccompanied Minors service for children travelling alone?

A - Yes, we gladly provide an Unaccompanied Minors service for children travelling alone between the ages of 7 and 13 years.


Q - What is the extent of Air Malta’s responsibility for children travelling alone?

A - Our responsibility for children travelling alone starts when the departure escort hands over the child into our care at the Departure Airport. This responsibility ends when the child is then subsequently handed to the authorised escort at the Arrival Airport. Click here for more details.

A – We provide a ‘Meet and Assist’ service only for unaccompanied children. Other ‘Meet and Assist’ services are provided by the Airport authorities.

A - The minimum age for a newborn baby to be allowed to travel is 7 days of age.


Q - What are Air Malta’s security requirements?

A - Each passenger must

  • check-in his own baggage only
  • confirm that he has packed the bag himself
  • confirm that all its contents are his own
