Q - How do I use the Web Check-in service?

A - There are 4 easy steps to use the Web Check-in service:

  • Step 1  : Access the Web Check-in facility from the home page. Complete the mandatory fields by entering your data: first name, last name (surname), record locator (i.e. reservation code or PNR) or flight number, and date (today or tomorrow).
    Select “Continue”.
    Attention: Name and surname must match the flight number or the reservation information.
  • Step 2 : Passenger information and the itinerary will appear on the screen. Verify the correctness of the indicated itinerary and choose the passengers you want to check-in. Insert the Frequent Flyer code if required. Select “Continue”.
  • Step 3 : Select your seat assignment from those available and then select “Continue”.
  • Step 4 : If Web Check-in was successful two copies of your boarding pass will appear on the screen. Please print them on an “A4” paper format (Passenger and Agent copies).

Q - What documents must be presented at the airport when using the Web Check-in service?

A - All passengers using the Web Check-in service must present: (i) a travel document; (ii) a valid visa when required; and (iii) the printed boarding passes. Passengers without travel documents and valid visa (if required) will not be allowed to board.

Web check-in service is not available for:
Unaccompanied minors from 7 to 12 years of age (inclusive) and all passengers in need of special assistance.

Q - When can I use the Web Check-in service?

A - The Web Check-in service can be used from 24 to 2 hours prior flight departure time.

Q - What is the deadline to arrive at the boarding gate?

A - Passengers using Web Check-in must be at the boarding gate no later than 45 minutes before the flight’s departure. After this time limit the passenger’s reservation may be cancelled and no-show rules will apply.

Q - Is it possible to print the boarding pass again?

A - Yes, simply access the Web Check-in system a second time. A copy of the boarding pass can also be re-printed at the web check-in drop off counter at the airport. Security and ID checks will apply at all times.

Q - Is it possible to check-in baggage at the check-in counter at the airport after having used the Web Check-in service?

A - Yes, passengers using the Web Check-in service must go to the baggage drop-off counter to check in their baggage. Please note that all Airmalta flights close 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

Q - Is it possible to change or cancel my reservation after using the Web Check-in service?

A - In order to make changes to your reservation after using the Web Check-in service it is necessary to contact Air Malta’s Call Centre. Fare rules regarding changes and cancellations may apply. It will be necessary to check-in again afterwards. 

Q - Is it possible to check-in when there are connecting flights?

A - Yes, but only if: (i) the connecting flight is operated by an airline having a ‘thru check-in’ agreement with Airmalta; and (ii) the passenger is traveling under a unique booking reference for the complete itinerary. Both boarding passes will be printed for each leg. The airlines with which Air Malta has a thru check-in agreement are:   KLM, Air Berlin, Air One, Alitalia, British Airways, British Midland, SAS, Emirates Airlines, Hapag Lloyd, Lufthansa, Swiss International, North West and Qantas.

Q - Is it possible to use the Web Check-in service for the return flight as well?

A - Air Malta is offering Web Check-in from Malta to EU countries and from London Gatwick, London Stansted, Birmingham, Zurich, Geneva, Vienna, Athens, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Berlin amongst others.

Q - Is it possible to use the Web Check-in service for electronic tickets purchased in travel agencies?

A - Yes, simply enter all the requested information correctly.

Q - Is it possible to change seat assignments?

A - In order to change seat assignments after using the Web Check-in service it is necessary to contact the Web check-in drop off counter at the airport.

Q - Is it possible to Web Check-in on code-share flights?

A - Web Check-in is only available on code-share flights that are operated by Air Malta.
